Bulk SMS in Surat for textile traders

Surat is the country's best-known centre for synthetic and man-made fibre textiles. Sarees, dress materials and dupattas are woven on powerlooms, processed in mills in areas such as Pandesara, Sachin and Udhna, embroidered or printed, and then sold through the wholesale markets along Ring Road to retailers across India. A new catalogue can reach shops in several states within weeks.

Each sale passes through many hands: trader, agent, transporter and retailer. Service SMS keeps them in step. A trader can confirm an order with the design numbers, share the bale count and bilty number on dispatch, acknowledge goods returned and tell the buyer when credit days end. A new catalogue launch is promotional, so it should go only to buyers who opted in or are not on DND.

Diamond units, karigars and the Diwali break

Surat cuts and polishes most of the world's diamonds, in units spread across Varachha, Katargam and Mahidharpura, and trading now also happens at the Surat Diamond Bourse in Khajod. Many karigars come from Saurashtra and go home for the long Diwali vacation, when most units close for two weeks or more. Getting everyone back on the right day is a real headache for owners.

SMS handles that in one send. A unit can message the reopening date and reporting time in Gujarati to every karigar on its rolls, then follow with shift timings and wage credited notices. Owners and brokers also use service SMS for parcels sent on memo, goods returned and payment due dates. Each message lands on basic phones too, with a delivery report for every number.

Gujarati SMS that karigars and shop customers can read

Gujarati text counts as Unicode: 70 characters fit in a single SMS, and a longer message is split into parts of 67. The reopening notice in our samples is 89 characters including the signature, so it goes as two parts; trimming it below 70 would halve its cost. Dates and amounts can be written in Gujarati digits or in 0 to 9, but 0 to 9 keeps them readable for staff who read Hindi.

Weaving and embroidery units also employ many workers from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, so a single factory may need Gujarati, Hindi and Odia templates. Tag each worker by language in your upload and register one template per language. Every worker then receives the notice once, in a script they read, and you pay for one message per person. Hindi and Odia notices follow the same 70-character rule as Gujarati.

Exporters and overseas buyers

Surat's diamond and jewellery exporters deal with buyers in centres such as Antwerp, Hong Kong, Dubai and New York, and some textile houses ship fabric abroad too. International SMS is available, priced on request by country. Overseas buyers usually prefer WhatsApp, though, because they can see photos of goods, grading certificates and invoices there and reply in the same thread, often from a different time zone.

Being a Meta Tech Provider, AvanceZone sets up the WhatsApp Business API on the same login as your SMS. Plans start at ₹999 a month plus ₹2,999 setup, with utility messages from ₹0.12 to ₹0.16 and marketing messages from ₹0.88 to ₹0.98, charged when Meta confirms delivery. Keep domestic order and payment updates on SMS, which reaches every phone without needing an app.

Chandani Padvo, Navratri and Diwali in Surat

Surat's calendar has its own peaks. Sweet shops take ghari orders before Chandani Padvo, the day after Sharad Purnima. Navratri brings garba nights and clothing sales, Diwali and the Gujarati New Year are the main gifting season, and Uttarayan in January fills the terraces with kites. The winter wedding season keeps saree and lehenga sellers busy well into the new year.

Promotional sends must stay between 10am and 9pm, go only to consenting or non-DND numbers and be filed about two weeks ahead to allow for DLT approval of 2 to 7 working days. Length matters at festival volumes: a two-part Gujarati Diwali offer to 8,000 buyers uses 16,000 SMS, about ₹2,400 plus GST at the Business rate, while trimming it to one part means 8,000 SMS, about ₹1,600 on Starter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can diamond units send reopening dates to karigars after Diwali?

Yes. A reopening notice to your own workers is a service message. Once the template is approved, it can be sent at any time of day, whether or not a worker's number is on DND. Register it in Gujarati, and in Hindi if needed, well before the vacation starts, with variables for the date and reporting time, each up to 30 characters.

Can I send SMS in Gujarati?

Yes, on all plans. Gujarati goes out as Unicode, so one SMS holds 70 characters and a longer message splits into 67-character parts, each billed as one SMS. The template you approve on DLT must match the text you send, word for word. Shorter text often fits in one part, which halves the cost of a big festival send.

Do you have an office in Surat?

No. AvanceZone has one office, in Sulur, Coimbatore, and serves Surat and the rest of Gujarat remotely. Phone and WhatsApp support is on +91 95851 60363 and email at info@avancezone.com during sales hours, 9am to 7pm from Monday to Saturday, in English or Hindi. DLT setup is done together with you over a call or screen share.

Can Surat textile traders send catalogue launches to retailers?

Yes, as promotional SMS. Send them only to retailers who agreed to receive offers or whose numbers are not on DND, between 10am and 9pm. If you include a catalogue link, its domain must be whitelisted on DLT, and public shorteners are blocked. Order confirmations and dispatch details for an existing order are service messages without the time window.

Should exporters use SMS or WhatsApp for overseas buyers?

For buyers abroad, WhatsApp usually works better because it carries photos, certificates and invoices, and our WhatsApp Business API plans start at ₹999 a month plus ₹2,999 setup. International SMS can be arranged too, with prices quoted per country. For domestic buyers, agents and workers, SMS stays the simpler choice because it reaches every phone.

What is the minimum I need to buy?

You need to buy at least 5,000 SMS, which comes to ₹1,000 plus GST at the ₹0.20 Starter rate. Credits stay valid for a year, and unused credits carry forward when you renew before expiry. There is no free trial and no monthly fee. The DLT entity fee of about ₹5,900 a year is paid to the operator.
