SMS Service for Banks and NBFC Lenders, Built for Every Borrower
Our SMS service for banks and NBFC lenders sends OTPs, debit and credit alerts, disbursal notes and EMI reminders through DLT-registered transactional routes, so every borrower gets the update on any phone, in English, Tamil or Hindi.

Banks and NBFCs use SMS for login and transaction OTPs, account debit and credit alerts, loan disbursal confirmations, EMI due reminders and KYC requests. These go on transactional or service routes with DLT-approved templates and reach DND numbers at any hour. Loan offers and cross-sell messages must go on the promotional route, 10am to 9pm only.
Transactional -T headers
OTPs and account alerts reach DND numbers any time of day with approved templates.
Masked account details
Templates designed to show only the last four digits, never full account or card numbers.
Regional language alerts
Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam Unicode for rural borrowers and microfinance groups.
Core banking integration
REST API and delivery webhooks connect to your LMS or core banking system.
Where an SMS service for banks and NBFC fits in the loan cycle
A single NBFC loan creates many customer messages from application to closure. An SMS service for banks and NBFC teams has to carry all of them on time: the application OTP, the sanction note, the disbursal confirmation, the NACH mandate status, monthly EMI reminders, a bounce notice if the mandate fails, and the closure letter alert.
For cooperative banks, small finance banks and microfinance lenders in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, many borrowers still use basic phones. SMS reaches them without an app or data pack. A gold loan customer in Pollachi gets the same renewal alert as a salaried borrower in Chennai, in the language they read best.
Which route each banking message needs
DLT rules decide the route by message purpose. Choosing correctly keeps templates approved and messages delivered.
- Login, payment and net banking OTPs: transactional route with a -T header, sent any time.
- Debit, credit and balance alerts: transactional route, triggered by your core system.
- EMI due, NACH status and KYC update requests: service implicit route with a -S header.
- Pre-approved loan and credit card offers: promotional route, -P header, non-DND or consented numbers, 10am to 9pm.
- Overdue follow-ups: service implicit, factual wording, sent in daytime hours.

Compliance points for RBI-regulated lenders
RBI expects lenders to treat borrowers fairly during recovery. Keep overdue messages factual: amount, due date and how to pay. Avoid threats, avoid messaging third parties, and schedule collection reminders during normal daytime hours. Our panel lets you set send windows per template so a late batch never goes out at night.
Never place a full account number, card number, PIN or password in an SMS. Mask to the last four digits. Since October 2024 only whitelisted URLs can appear in SMS, which also blocks lookalike phishing links from your own header. Register your payment page domain on DLT before you use it in a template.
Under the DPDP Act 2023, take clear consent for marketing and honour STOP replies quickly. Transactional alerts tied to an active account do not need marketing consent, but the content must stay within the approved template.
Delivery reports and audit records for lenders
Auditors and grievance teams often ask whether a borrower was actually informed. Our delivery reports record the submit time, operator status and final delivery time for every SMS. Push them to your LMS by webhook and store them against the loan account, so your branch can answer a complaint with a dated record instead of a guess.
Use sub-accounts for each branch or product line, such as gold loans, vehicle loans and microfinance. Head office keeps control of headers and templates while each team sees only its own MIS reports.
When to add WhatsApp or RCS to bank SMS
Keep SMS as the base layer for OTPs and alerts because it works on every handset. Add WhatsApp utility messages when you need to send an EMI schedule PDF, a loan statement or a payment button, at ₹0.12 to ₹0.16 per utility message on our plans. RCS gives you a verified brand name and logo in the inbox, which helps customers tell your alerts apart from fraud. Use SMS fallback whenever the other channel cannot deliver.
Sending outside India too?
We also send SMS and WhatsApp messages to customers abroad, with help on each country's sender ID and consent rules.

Frequently asked questions
Can banks send OTP SMS to DND numbers?
Yes. OTPs and account alerts are transactional messages, so they reach numbers registered on DND, at any time of day. The header must be registered as transactional on DLT and the exact template wording must be approved. If the content drifts from the template, operators reject the message, so we recommend testing every template on the panel before going live.
Which DLT category should an NBFC choose for EMI reminders?
EMI reminders, NACH bounce alerts and KYC requests fall under service implicit, because they relate to an existing loan. Use a header with the -S suffix. A loan top-up offer or a new product pitch is promotional and must use a -P header, go only to consented or non-DND numbers, and be sent between 10am and 9pm.
How do we stop customers from mistaking our SMS for fraud?
Use one consistent header across all alerts, sign every message with your brand name, and include only whitelisted links that point to your own domain. Never ask for OTPs or PINs in a message. Adding RCS with a verified brand logo also helps customers recognise genuine messages from your institution.
Can a cooperative bank send alerts in Tamil?
Yes. Templates can be registered in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and other Indian languages using Unicode. Keep in mind that a Unicode SMS holds 70 characters per part, or 67 when split, so a long Tamil alert may bill as two or three parts. Keep EMI and balance alerts short to control cost.
What does SMS cost for a mid-size NBFC?
Our Business plan is ₹0.15 per delivered SMS for up to 1,00,000 SMS a month, plus 18% GST, with no monthly platform fee. Lenders sending more can move to Enterprise pricing with an SLA and a dedicated account manager. DLT registration fees are paid to the operator separately.
