SMS Service for Schools and Colleges That Parents Actually Read
Our SMS service for schools and colleges sends attendance alerts, fee reminders, exam results, transport delays and holiday notices to parents and students, straight from your ERP or a simple Excel upload, in Tamil or English.

Schools and colleges use SMS to tell parents about absence, fee dues, exam schedules, results, bus delays, holidays and PTA meetings. These are service messages and reach DND numbers when sent with approved templates. Admission campaigns to new families are promotional and need consent or non-DND numbers, sent between 10am and 9pm.
Absence alerts by 10am
Push attendance from your ERP and parents know before mid-morning.
Excel upload for staff
Office staff upload a class list and send without any technical setup.
Tamil Unicode notices
Send circulars in Tamil so every parent understands the message.
Emergency holiday broadcast
Rain or strike holiday notice reaches every parent in minutes.
What an SMS service for schools and colleges should cover
Parents miss diary notes and app notifications, but they read SMS. An SMS service for schools and colleges gives the office one place to send every routine notice: daily absence, fee instalment due, exam timetable, result published, PTA meeting, bus running late and sudden holidays.
A matriculation school in Coimbatore with 2,000 students can push absence data from its attendance software every morning and send a personalised SMS to each absent child's parent. A college can send semester results, hall ticket availability and placement drive notices to students and their parents on separate lists.
Routes and templates for school messages
Most school communication is service traffic, because it relates to an enrolled student.
- Absence, late arrival and leave approval: service implicit, -S header.
- Fee due, fee received and receipt link: service implicit.
- Exam schedule, results and report card availability: service implicit.
- Bus delay and emergency holiday: service implicit, can be sent early morning.
- Admission open campaigns to new families: promotional, -P header, 10am to 9pm, consent or non-DND only.

Consent and child privacy
Collect parent mobile numbers at admission with a short written consent that explains what messages they will receive. Keep marketing consent, such as summer camp offers, as a separate tick box. Under the DPDP Act 2023, data about children needs verifiable parental consent, so the parent's number should be the primary contact.
Do not put marks, health information or disciplinary details of one student in a bulk message. Send results only to that student's registered parent number, and link to a login-protected portal on your own whitelisted domain for full details. Avoid student names in promotional campaigns.
Planning for exam season and admission rush
Schools send the most messages in a few weeks of the year: admissions, term fee deadlines, exam timetables and results day. Prepare templates for these weeks in advance, because DLT approval can take up to a week. Keep a ready template for unplanned holidays so the office can send a rain or strike notice within minutes of the decision.
Use groups for each class, section, bus route and hostel so a notice reaches only the parents it concerns. A transport delay on Route 4 should not wake up every parent in the school. Our MIS reports show which numbers failed, which usually means a parent changed their number. Ask class teachers to update those numbers at the next PTA meeting.
Colleges can follow the same approach for departments, hostels and placement cells. Give each a sub-account with its own templates, while the principal's office keeps one header so students and parents always recognise the sender.
When to add WhatsApp or voice calls
WhatsApp suits fee receipts as PDFs, circular images and photo galleries from annual day. Many parents prefer it, but not every grandparent or driver on your contact list uses it, so keep SMS for urgent alerts. For parents who cannot read, a short voice call in Tamil works well for holiday and exam notices. Our panel can send the same notice by SMS and voice from one list.
Sending outside India too?
We also send SMS and WhatsApp messages to customers abroad, with help on each country's sender ID and consent rules.

Frequently asked questions
Can schools send SMS to parents on DND?
Yes, for service messages. Absence alerts, fee reminders, results and holiday notices relate to an enrolled student and can reach DND numbers if sent through an approved service template. Admission campaigns or event promotions are promotional and cannot go to DND numbers unless the parent has given digital consent.
Do schools need DLT registration?
Yes. Every organisation sending commercial SMS in India must register as a Principal Entity on an operator DLT portal. The one-time fee is about ₹5,900 including GST, and each header costs about ₹590 a year. Templates are free to register. Approval usually takes 2 to 7 working days.
Can we send SMS in Tamil to parents?
Yes. Register the template in Tamil using Unicode. Each Tamil SMS part holds up to 70 characters, so a long circular may become three or four parts and cost more. For long notices, send a short Tamil SMS with a link to the full circular on your school website.
How do colleges send results without sharing marks publicly?
Send each student's result only to their own registered number, using a template with variables for register number and grade or a pass status. For the full mark sheet, include a link to your login-protected results portal on a whitelisted domain. Never send a combined list of marks to a group.
How much does a school SMS plan cost?
Most schools fit our Starter plan at ₹0.20 per delivered SMS for up to 10,000 SMS a month, or Business at ₹0.15 for larger groups. Prices exclude 18% GST and there is no monthly fee. You pay only for delivered messages, so holiday months cost less.
