SMS Service for Ecommerce and Retail Stores That Cuts RTO
Our SMS service for ecommerce brands and retail chains sends COD confirmations, order and shipping updates, return alerts and sale campaigns from your Shopify, WooCommerce or billing software, with DLT templates ready for each step.

Ecommerce and retail businesses use SMS to confirm cash-on-delivery orders, send dispatch and delivery updates, share invoices, process returns and run sale campaigns. Order updates go on the service route and reach DND numbers. Offers, new arrivals and cart reminders to people who have not consented count as promotional and must follow the 10am to 9pm rule.

Why an SMS service for ecommerce reduces failed deliveries
Return to origin is one of the biggest hidden costs for a D2C brand. Many failed COD orders come from buyers who ordered on impulse, typed a wrong pincode or forgot the order. An SMS service for ecommerce lets you confirm the order within minutes, before the parcel leaves your warehouse.
A Tiruppur garment brand selling on its own Shopify store can send a COD confirmation the moment an order is placed, hold unconfirmed orders for a day, and cancel the rest. That means fewer parcels travelling to addresses where nobody will pay.
Store messages and the route each one uses
Map every message in your order flow to a DLT category before you register templates.
- Order placed, COD confirmation, payment received: service implicit, -S header.
- Packed, shipped, out for delivery, delivered: service implicit, triggered by your courier status.
- Return pickup and refund processed: service implicit.
- Cart reminder to a shopper who opted in at checkout: service explicit, needs recorded consent.
- Diwali sale, new collection, clearance offers: promotional route, -P header, 10am to 9pm.

Retail stores and billing counters
Offline retailers can send a short bill SMS with a whitelisted link to the digital invoice. This saves paper and builds a phone list you can later use for loyalty points updates. Take marketing consent at the counter, record it, and keep it separate from billing alerts.
Supermarkets and jewellers with several branches can use sub-accounts so each branch manager sees only their own campaigns and reports, while the head office controls templates and the sender ID.
Measuring what your store SMS does
Track three numbers each week: the share of COD orders confirmed by SMS reply, the RTO rate on confirmed versus unconfirmed orders, and repeat orders from customers who received a post-delivery message. These come from your own store data, and they tell you which messages earn their cost.
Our delivery reports show which numbers did not receive a message, so you can clean invalid numbers from your customer list. Add your store's order ID to each message reference, and match delivery status with order outcomes in Google Sheets or your analytics tool. Small changes, such as sending the COD confirmation within five minutes instead of an hour, are easy to test this way.
If you sell on marketplaces as well as your own site, remember that the marketplace sends its own order SMS. Use your header only for orders placed on your store, so buyers do not receive two different updates for one parcel.
Adding WhatsApp and RCS to your store messages
SMS is the most reliable channel for COD confirmation because it reaches every buyer, including first-time online shoppers on basic phones. Move rich content to other channels: WhatsApp for product photos, catalogue links, order tracking buttons and return requests; RCS for carousels of new arrivals with a verified brand name. Keep SMS as the fallback so no order update goes missing.
Remember that public URL shorteners are blocked in SMS. Use your own domain, such as yourstore.in/t/12345, and register it on DLT first.
Sending outside India too?
We also send SMS and WhatsApp messages to customers abroad, with help on each country's sender ID and consent rules.
How it works
List your order events
Note every status your store or courier creates: placed, confirmed, shipped, delivered, returned.
Register store templates
We help you draft one DLT template per event with order ID, amount and tracking link variables.
Connect your store
Use our REST API, a WooCommerce hook or a Shopify flow through Pabbly Connect or Zapier.
Turn on reply handling
Set up two-way SMS so buyers can confirm or cancel COD orders by replying.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send order SMS from Shopify or WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce can call our HTTP API directly through a plugin or webhook. Shopify stores usually connect through Pabbly Connect or Zapier, which pass order events to our API. Each event must use a DLT-approved template, so the store variables such as name, order ID and amount must fit the variable slots in the template.
Is a COD confirmation SMS promotional or transactional?
It is a service message, because it relates to an order the customer has already placed. Register it under service implicit with a -S header. It can be sent to DND numbers at any hour. Do not add discount offers to the same template, because promotional content in a service template can lead to rejection.
Can I add tracking links to delivery SMS?
Yes, but only from whitelisted domains. Since 1 October 2024 operators block public shorteners like bit.ly in SMS. Use a link on your own domain or your courier partner's registered domain, and register that URL pattern on your DLT portal before sending.
How many characters can an order alert have?
A plain English SMS fits 160 characters in one part, or 153 per part when longer. Hindi or Tamil text uses Unicode and fits 70 characters per part. Most order alerts fit in one part if you keep the brand name short and avoid long product titles. Our character counter shows parts before you send.
What does ecommerce SMS cost?
Starter pricing is ₹0.20 per delivered SMS up to 10,000 a month, and Business is ₹0.15 per SMS up to 1,00,000 a month, plus GST. There is no monthly fee. Large D2C brands and marketplaces can ask for Enterprise pricing with volume discounts.
